The hilltop of the former deer park offers a fine overview of Clausen’s present-day structure. It is still somehow reminiscent of the geometric layout of the previous pleasure gardens. In the Renaissance period geometry and perspective were important aspects in the design of cities, fortresses, castles and gardens. Mansfeld certainly wanted to display his status and prestige by applying these geometric devices to his residence in Clausen.
